A message from the instructors
The Shoot/Don’t Shoot question is one of the basic topics addressed in every advanced CPL tactics handgun class. As law enforcement instructors and specialists in the use of force issue, Instructors Jerry Wrage & Rick Billington can now provided law enforcement training concepts to the civilian world. You can now train as the professionals train. We can now communicate this important issue to our students in a format that is easy to understand and in a tactically sound format .
(1) When to use deadly force;
(2) When to get involved;
(3) When to determine not to shoot by just preparing yourself for the worse;
(4) Why not to use of deadly force to protect property;
(5) and much more
For years, we have preached the laws and concepts of responsible gun-ownership to our student’s. Our goal has been to make students aware of the financial and emotional implications of possibly taking a life. Regardless of the teaching method used, the boundaries of "when to" or "when not to" may escalate to the use of a firearm for personal protection or protection of others. It is extremely difficult for students to grasp the numerous "what if" scenarios. As instructors we searched for a training method which would assist the students in resolving the complexity of making the shoot/don’t-shoot decision. We have finally found a powerful training tool to help simplify the challenge. We now have available a "LaserShot Training System" which will help develop the required motor and judgmental skills. It will help increase speed, accuracy and improve technique. It will ultimately help develop the “shoot” “no shoot” decision making process with real life like scenarios.
Many students feel they should use deadly force if the law states they are "justified." An example would be witnessing an armed robbery. Avoidance is always your best option if it can be done safely. Avoiding confrontations that could escalate to the use of deadly force can now be practiced safely and easily understood. Where else can you get this real life experience training, without actually being involved in a deadly force encounter? The answer was no were until now.
Since there is no way possible to obtain this training, at least in the civilian world, we are excited to have obtained this awesome training tool. It is our hope that by sharing it with our students you will go away more experienced and confident that you will do the right thing and most importantly survive a deadly force encounter.
